Gold Coast · Stress & Anxiety

The mind won't stop. The body won't rest. And nothing you've tried has held.

Stress was never the problem — it's meant to come and go. What wears you down is when it stops switching off. That's your nervous system losing its ability to recover, and it can be measured, understood, and trained back. This time with proof it's working.

Maybe it's the tight chest at 3pm.

Maybe the mind that won't switch off at night. Maybe just the sense that you're managing, but never quite landing — that something isn't right, even if you can't name it.

It's not that you haven't tried hard enough. It's that no one's looked at what's actually happening.

How a healthy system works

Stress isn't the enemy. Getting stuck is.

Your nervous system is built to move through all of these states — each one is useful in the right moment. A resilient system rises to meet a challenge, then settles back down again. The trouble starts when it loses that flexibility and can't find its way back.

Green

Calm & connected

Settled, present, clear-thinking, able to rest and connect. The state a flexible system returns to once a challenge has passed.

Yellow

Alert & engaged

Focused, energised, ready to act. Exactly what you want for a deadline or a challenge — as long as you can come back down afterward.

Red

Activated

Fight-or-flight. Vital in real danger, and completely normal under pressure. It only becomes a problem when it won't switch off.

Blue

Shut down

Flat, numb, withdrawn. A protective response when things feel like too much — but somewhere a resilient system shouldn't get stuck.

The goal was never to live in green forever. It's to restore the range — so you can rise when you need to, and come back down when you don't.

Who this is for

If any of these sound like your life — this was built for you.

Most people who come to Rich aren't falling apart in public. They're holding it together — and quietly running on empty underneath.

01

The professional who can't switch off

Successful, capable, carrying real weight — and a mind that won't stop, even on the weekend. You don't need a holiday. You need a nervous system that knows how to come down.

02

The parent running on empty

Giving everything to everyone. The short fuse, the guilt about it, the bone-tiredness that sleep doesn't touch. Not a character flaw — a system that hasn't been allowed to recover in years.

03

The body that's started speaking up

Sleep falling apart, anxiety arriving unbidden, health markers drifting, energy gone. The body has been signalling for a while. You're ready to listen.

An honest filter

This isn't for everyone.

We'd rather you find what genuinely helps you than sign up to the wrong thing. So before you book, it's worth knowing where this work doesn't fit.

We can stand behind a guarantee because we don't work with everyone. If you're ready to look honestly and follow a clear path, we'll meet you there. If you're not — that's okay too, and we'll tell you on the call.

If you're looking for a quick fix Real nervous system change isn't a weekend hack. It's a few weeks to months of consistent, structured work. If "one session and I'll feel different forever" is the expectation, we're not the right fit.
If you're not prepared to do the work between sessions The shifts come from what happens in your daily life, not just the sessions. If you're not in a position to commit time to the practices we agree on, the data won't move and the guarantee can't hold.
If you want someone to fix you We don't do "to you" work — we do "with you" work. You're the one driving recovery; we're the structure, the science, and the accountability around it. If you want a passive treatment, this isn't that.
If you're not willing to follow a roadmap The measurement only means something if we move through the agreed steps. Cherry-picking the bits that feel comfortable doesn't produce the change — or the data to prove it.

A gentle thing worth saying

The cost isn't dramatic. It's just always there.

Stuck stress doesn't usually announce itself. It shows up as the sleep that never quite restores you. The evenings that disappear into a fog. The conversations with the people you love where you're physically there, but not really there. The quiet, accumulating tiredness of carrying something the body was never meant to carry for this long.

None of it is your fault — chronic stress is a physiological state, not a character flaw. But it also isn't something you have to keep paying. The body is built to recover. It just needs the right conditions, and somebody who can help it find them.

You don't have to wait until things get worse to start.

Why it keeps coming back

Chronic stress isn't a mindset problem. It's a nervous system that's lost its ability to recover.

A resilient system bounces back on its own. But under pressure that never lets up, it can lose that spring — and calm stops returning by itself. The good news: recovery is a trainable skill, not a fixed trait.

01

Recovery stops happening

Stress is meant to spike and pass. Under relentless pressure, the system stops fully standing down between demands — and the activation quietly becomes the baseline.

02

Coping isn't recovering

Most advice teaches you to manage the feeling in the moment. That's coping. It doesn't restore the underlying flexibility — which is why the relief never lasts.

03

Flexibility can be rebuilt

The nervous system is adaptable by nature. With the right inputs, repeated consistently, it relearns how to recover — and we can measure that capacity returning.

A measured way out

We don't ask you to take calm on faith.

From the first session we establish where your nervous system actually sits, using assessments matched to you. Then we track it. You'll see the change — not just feel it.

First

We measure

A clear baseline of where your stress and nervous system are right now, using validated assessments chosen for your situation.

Then

We retrain

A structured, personalised approach that rebuilds your nervous system's ability to recover — built around your life, not a generic program.

Throughout

We track

We re-measure along the way, so progress is visible and accountable. The data tells us what's working and where to go next.

Rich Muir — The Art of Calm

Who you'll be speaking with

Not a life coach. Someone who's been there — and went looking for why.

In his early thirties, Rich was running a business, raising a family, and quietly falling apart — chronic fatigue and depression don't care how full your schedule is. He went looking for a way back, down every rabbit hole, until he discovered meditation — the first thing that genuinely shifted something. He's now taught it for around ten years.

Wanting to understand why it worked, he went on to complete an Honours degree in Psychological Science — writing his thesis on the relationship between stress, breath, and wellbeing — and trained in breath science, hypnosis, and how the nervous system responds to stress and recovers. He's put it all together into structured programs that support people back to wellbeing. He shares it not as theory, but as someone who needed it to work.

The first step

Your free nervous system assessment.

Before anything else, Rich sits down with you and works through a series of assessments to understand where your nervous system actually is right now — and what's really driving your situation.

It's not a sales call and it's not a treatment. It's a genuine deep dive into what's going on beneath the surface, so you leave with real clarity — whether or not you ever work with us.

At the end, Rich will be honest with you about whether what we offer can actually support you. If it can, you'll know exactly what's next. If it can't, he'll tell you that too.

What you'll walk away with

  • A clear picture of where your nervous system actually sits right now
  • An honest read on what's driving your particular pattern — not generic stress advice
  • A straight answer on whether what we offer can help you, and what to do next
  • The clarity itself — yours to keep, whether or not we work together

Our commitment to you

Do the work, and your stress comes down — or you don't pay.

If you follow the program, implement the steps, and the assessments don't show a reduction in your stress, we'll refund you. We can stand behind that because we measure it — for both of us to see.

Backed by the data we collect together, from your baseline through to re-assessment.

Real stories

People who came looking for calm. And found it.

Crisis & resilience

"Divorce, job loss, two weeks before Christmas. This was my anchor."

Sue never anticipated what that year would bring. Blindsided by a marriage breakdown and redundancy at once, she credits her daily practice with keeping her together.

Health & recovery

"My anchor through chemotherapy."

Alba started while undergoing treatment. The fatigue didn't disappear — but it became manageable. She could go to the beach again, and feel the good parts of life.

Stress & family

"I used to bring the day home. Now I hit reset."

As a teacher and parent, the stress of the day followed Simon home, and he'd react in ways he later regretted. Twenty minutes after work changed everything.

The results speak for themselves.

Honest answers

The questions most people ask.

What actually happens on the call?

Rich asks you a structured set of questions to understand where your nervous system is sitting, what's driving it, and what you've already tried. There's no pitch. At the end he'll tell you honestly whether what we offer is likely to help you — and either way, you leave with a clearer picture of what's going on.

Will you try to sell me something?

No. The assessment is genuinely free and there's nothing to buy on the call itself. If it's clear we can help, Rich will explain what working together would look like — but only at the end, and only if it makes sense. If we're not the right fit, he'll say so. We'd rather you find what genuinely helps than sign up to the wrong thing.

How is this different from therapy or counselling?

Therapy works primarily through conversation, insight, and meaning-making — which can be enormously valuable. Our work is different: we focus on the body and nervous system directly, training the physiological capacity to recover from stress. The two are complementary, not competing. Many of our clients see a therapist too.

Do I have to meditate?

No. Meditation is one tool among several, and only used where it suits the person. The work is built around your nervous system, your life, and what actually moves the needle for you — which is different for everyone.

How long does the work take?

It depends on where you're starting from and the depth of change you're after. Some people see meaningful shifts in a few weeks; deeper rewiring is a months-long process. We'll discuss what's realistic for your situation on the call, including what fits your time and budget.

What does it cost?

Programs vary in length and depth depending on your situation — there's no one-size-fits-all price because there's no one-size-fits-all program. We'll match the right level of support to you on the assessment call, including what fits your budget. Single one-off sessions are available at $200 if you'd prefer that route.

In person or online?

Both. In-person sessions are in Currumbin Valley on the Gold Coast. Online sessions are available Australia-wide and work just as well — we use the assessments and the work translates fully to video.

What if it doesn't work for me?

If you follow the program, implement what we work on, and the assessments don't show your stress coming down, we refund you. That's the commitment, and it's backed by the data we collect together — so it's not a judgement call, it's what the numbers say.
